Music?

I often wonder in my Multimedia things if I should include Music.

Music is much harder for me to judge on a quick basis than the other things that I list. There’s no real “finishing” music, and I often don’t know how I feel about music until it’s been in my rotation for a few months. Maybe I should just make a post occasionally of music that I’m thinking about…

So, here goes. With few exceptions, all the music I’ll talk about is on Emusic.com, about $5-6 per album…

Harvey Danger - Where have all the merrymakers gone, and Little by Little.

Little by little was an album released on Harvey Danger’s website at some point in the past. I’d heard about the band, so I went ahead and bought it. It was pretty good, but way different from what I had heard from them before. I would recommend that you listen to it though. It’s available on their website for download.

I just recently picked up their big hit CD though, the Merrymakers cd. There is of course the well known “Flagpole Sitta” song, but the rest of the album is solid too, and much of it is in a similar radio friendly vein.

Ted Leo and the Pharmacists. The CDs I have from them are Hearts of Oak, Brutalist Bricks, and The Tyranny of Distance. It looks like at least one have dropped off Emusic. I do recommend it though, I got hooked based on a song from Last.FM and went on a downloading spree the next few months.

The Limousines - Get Sharp. There’s no other CD with quite the same combination of making me feel Old and Young as this one. In particular, both Internet killed the Video Star, and The Future make me feel incredibly old, but Very Busy People reminds me of the early 2000’s and when I was going to college. (All the tech references…) The rest of the CD has some good stuff, but also some annoying bits…

Garbage - Absolute Garbage. A compilation of their earlier stuff. It’s surprising how much of this I remember, and enjoy, given that I wasn’t a Garbage fan back in the 90’s.
