Kazriko's Dive

Back on FFXI: Drug Edition.

After a multi month break, I’m playing that game again. Managed to get to lvl 53 with my RDM the first day back, and finish mission 5-1. Not too bad. I’ve been working my BST up toward lvl 29 this week, and I’m only 800 exp away.I can’t believe I didn’t try fighting Wights before this with BST. They’re cake with either GlowBats (best), Clippers or pugils… They do beat up on my poor little Bottlebunnies (HareFamiliars) though.

Venture Bros etc

If you haven’t seen it already you should check out the animated show Venture Bros. It’s probably one of the most entertaining shows ever made for cartoon network’s adult swim programming block. Not only that, but the writer keeps a blog on livejournal as well. Check it out at http://jacksonpublick.livejournal.com/ .(Note: Some of the Anime on there is as good or better. I’m only commenting on the rather slack quality of the other made-for-adultswim shows like aquateen hunger force and sealab 2021…)I’m really enjoying the Ghost in the Shell Standalone Complex series as well.

PHDD update

It’s 4 am…I managed a successful test of the GPS speedometer, after an unsuccessful test earlier yesterday. The recieve buffer was too small…Figured out that the speed in Knots was one thing already provided in one of the gps strings, cut out a bunch of my own speed code that way.Figured out how to combine the GSA and GGA sentances to get fix level and satellite count easily. I’m using these to make a nice little bar graph like you see on cell phones.

PHDD Progress

It’s been awhile since I seriously worked on PHDD, the digital dash for my car. I managed to get a few things working this weekend. First was the Logo display. It needs some polishing up to make it more like the text screen buffer, but it’s showing my Bitmap now.Second part was the GPS Speedometer code! I did some test values (like 22.2222 meters per second, and 27.7777 meters per second) both of which came up with the appropriate MPH reading on the screen.

Happiness Is:

Finding out that one of your favorite portable electronic devices has a fast emulator on another one of your favorite portable electronic devices. :)http://www.hpcalc.org/details.php?id=5898Yay!I’ll have to try it when I get home.

Making my own Dash, and Carputer

Since no one seems to care about my projects on IRC, I figured I’d post them to my LJ so no one can care about them here too! :)OMP Progress:This weekend I managed to get quite a bit going. I ordered my GPS box and found the pin-outs in the taiwanese documentation. It’s TTL level, so I’m going to need an interface board. Once I figured that out I also ordered the keypad, external USB hd enclosure, and a cable that can plug into the GPS.

Yay. I have nothing to say

Yay. I have nothing to say.Well, I guess the Zodiac has been pretty good, aside from the 2 games I’ve purchased being fairly slow. I guess that’s to be expected with Launch titles. Not only that, but the Zodiac2 is a launch system unlike most the US has seen. Typically we get fairly good launch titles due to the system being out in japan for as much as 6 months before we end up with it.

Happy new Orbit, with a new PDA

Yay, it’s 2004. I’m not sure it matters, but last January I had dubbed 2003 to be the “year from he**” Here’s hoping 2004 will be kinder. (2003 improved as time went on, say, about april 2003…)One of the companies I work for gave me a nice present, a Zodiac 2, for christmas, although due to shipping delays they didn’t get it until the end of the year. It looks great, and the sound is amazing on it.

FF:XI-Drug Edition, And two games that keep me addicted after all this time.

FFXI is far too addictive. My original goal was to have a game I could play that would keep me occupied until my finances recovered to the point where I could buy new games. I had added it up and figured that for it to meet my average RPG cost, that I’d need to play 8 hours a week for the first 2 months, then at least 4 hours a week after that.

R&C2, FFX-2, FFXI

Man, Ratchet and Clank 2 is good. They didn’t mess with the formula much, which is also a good thing. I picked it up last wednesday, and already tossed 22 hours on it, and have everything but the 1-million-bolts-plus armor and weapons. I’m short 2 platinum bolts as well. I’ll have to track those down. I’m on the final boss (I think), and keep getting about 15% left on his health before one of the side-turrets nail me.
